Hayleys Agro firmly believes in fulfilling social obligations and we strive to conduct various service projects in the communities in which we function. Our team of talented professionals with many years of experience in the industry are keen to share their knowledge with others already engaged in agricultural activities as well as with newcomers to the field.
Projects
- We have increased the water supply of the area surrounding Kattambuwawa Tank in Kurunegala from 19 to 40 acres through our restoration projects. This project has enabled approximately 150 families to cultivate their land successfully.
- The capacity of the Aluthwawa Tank in Hambantota was increased from 5 Arc. ft to 60 Arc. ft through the removal of aquatic plants and silt. Thus, we have managed to increase cultivatable area from 250 to 700 acres.
- We have enhanced the livelihoods of those affected by the tsunami in the UNESCO village in Kosgoda through our Anthurium Cultivation Project. This project facilitates the export of Anthuriums and small scale businesses.
- We have sponsored career guidance programmes for students in collaboration with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with the aim of exposing rural youth to a variety of vocations.
- We assist university students by organising 6 month in-house training programmes and we have also sponsored needy veterinary undergraduates at the University of Peradeniya.
Other charitable ventures
- Providing stationary to students of many schools including Polwatta Maha Vidyalaya, Minuwangoda.
- Constructing a playground at a village school in Kurunegala.
- Conducting training workshops in Agro Chemicals, Animal Health Products and Fertiliser.
- Refurbishing the Seeduwa hospital.
- Renovating a bus stand at the Seeduwa junction.
- Assisting critically ill patients, widows, the destitute and the unemployed.
- Free sterilisation of stray dogs.
