The first Hayleys Agro Farmer Club was inaugurated on 30th January 2009 in Welimada with over 130 famers from Welimada and Uva-Paranagama in attendance. The objectives behind the establishment of the Hayleys Agro Farmer Club are
- Enhance farmer lifestyle through increased agricultural productivity
- Introduce new agricultural technology and enhance the technical knowledge of the farmers
- Develop unity among farmers
- Establish farmer clubs throughout Sri Lanka
- Enhance knowledge of farmers on the use of environment friendly products in crop production
- Identify agriculture related problems of farmers and direct them to relevant public and private sector organizations for action.
- Assist the children of members of the farmer club who had excelled in the field of education/sports.
- Establish a welfare fund for the members with the participation of Hayleys Agro and the farmers.
This event was attended by Mr. Upali Gangoda, CEO of Hayleys Agro Products who addressed the gathering and explained the objectives of the Hayleys Agro Farmer Club. Presentations on the use and applications of the product range of the different Business Units of HAPL and HAFL were done by the respective Business units representative. The event culminated with the election of the office bearers to the Hayleys Agro Farmer Club – Welimada. |
