Hayleys Agro Products Limited has yet again introduced two new hybrid Maize seed varieties TF 222 and SA 501.
TF 222 – Currently this variety is the leading product of Seed Asia, Thailand. Excellent grain quality and high yielding variety. This variety is also tolerant to drought and is well adapted to areas with common climatic conditions as the central corn belt and highland market areas in Northern Thailand. It also has a beautiful orange-red kernel which is uniform in size. Farmers claim that it is easy to harvest as well. It also has low moisture after harvest.
SA 501 – High yielding variety with good grain quality. Tolerant to rust and other leaf diseases. Well adapted to late rainy season and high disease-prone production areas.
The Department of Agriculture has successfully tested these 2 varieties at Maha-Illuppllama for 2 seasons and recommended as suitable varieties for cultivation in Sri Lanka.
