The Annual Staff Conference & Get-together of the employees of the Agri Inputs sector was held at Bentota Beach Hotel, Bentota on Sunday 02/05/2010 with the participation of over 200 employees. The team of employees left Colombo at 6.00 am and gathered at the hotel for breakfast at 8.00 am.

Following the inspiring keynote address “ Bringing the Best out in People” by Mr Rizvi Zaheed, Group Director and the Managing Director of Hayleys Agro Products Limited, Mr Upali Gangoda, Director/CEO of Hayleys Agro Products Limited delivered his speech, themed “Strategies for Future Growth”.

Thereafter, Mr S M Gamage, Mr L P Wijerathna, Ms R A L N Karunanayake and Ms W W M D S Ittapana who had completed 25 years of service and Mr K K P Katukurunde, Mr H S L W Liyanage and Ms. K D S Fernando who had completed 15 years of loyal service for the group, were presented with Long Service Awards.

As per the agenda, Special Awards were presented to nine staff members of the Sector who had brought fame and recognition to the Agri Inputs Sector by actively participating in the various sports activities organized by both HGRC and external organizations such as Crop Life – Sri Lanka.

Then the day’s thrilling games kicked off with the Six-a-Side Cricket Match which helped to strengthen team spirit and bonding of the team, removing hierarchical boundaries. The sports events were based on the ideas as to what constituted fun while the main aim was to build team spirit and cooperation among the business units of the Sector.

The “Super Singing and Dancing Team” competition attracted great enthusiasm and interest. This competition offered those attending, an opportunity to discover the hidden talents of the members of the team. The judges of the competition were challenged by the high calibre performance by the employees.

The height of the fun-filled day was when the floor was opened for “rock n roll” with the refreshing musical blend provided by the band “C-Major”.

This annual event provides the employees not only so much fun but also an opportunity to get together and develop fellowship across the Divisions.
